Bassim Al-Karbalaei : ウィキペディア英語版 | Bassim Al-Karbalaei
Bassim Al-Karbalaei (born November 12,1967) (alternatively, Bassim Al-Karbalaei) (born Bassim) is a Shia eulogy (latmiya) reciter.〔Al-Adeeb, Dena. ''From Sacred Ritual to Installation Art: A Personal Testimony'', in Ghazoul, Ferial J. (ed.) ''(Journal of Comparative Poetics: Artistic Adaptations: Approaches and Positions )'' (No. 28, 2008), p. 16-17 ("Basim al-Karbala'i, a prominent chanter of 'Ashura" and brief critique of his style)〕〔 He was born in the city of Karbalaa, Iraq in 1967 where he lived until 1980. During this time, he participated in processions in Karbala which were held in mourning of Muhammad and Ahl al-Bayt (people of the household (the prophet )), who Shi'as regard highly. He then moved and lived in Isfahan, Iran, where he began learning how to read Qur'an which helped soften and improve his voice.〔Louėr, Laurence. (Transnational Shia politics: religious and political networks in the Gulf ), p. 216 (2008) ("Nadeem Sarwer is probably the most popular of the radud in the Shia world. He was born in Karbala in 1967 and ...")〕 He has read thousands of poems regarding Muhammad and his Ahl al-Bayt both in mourning and celebration of them.〔(Linear Control Systems & Laboratory - Other listing ), sharif.edu, Retrieved September 7, 2011 (this is clearly not a very good source, however he does seem to be notable in Arabic circles)〕 He has recited in Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and London, UK. ==References==
